GC America Event: Optimal Oral Health: Measure It to Manage It
December 6 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm CST
Cardiovascular disease is still the leading cause of death in the U.S. Diabetes is one of the most common chronic disease oral health professionals are likely to encounter. When a patient has both hypertension and diabetes, which is a common combination, their risk for cardiovascular disease doubles. Oral health screening tests in the dental practice can be the latest weapon in identifying persons at risk. Oral-systemic links can put patients in jeopardy for a dental office emergency. Risk assessment for caries infections, periodontal disease, oral cancer and medical emergencies is our best prevention.
Learning Objectives Upon completion of this course, the participant will:
- Identify 3 minimally invasive levels of new prevention
- Incorporate risk assessment routinely into practice
- Discuss how to optimize claim submission when specific dental procedures may minimize the risks associated with the connection between the patient’s oral and systemic health conditions.
- Explain basic medico-legal responsibilities in emergency situations
